
German Doctors is searching for a Country Representative in Uganda to act as the key focal point between German Doctors Bonn (Head Quarter) and its Ugandan partner organisations, fostering smooth cooperation, ensuring high-quality project implementation, and identifying opportunities for strategic programme development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Communication
- Act as the primary liaison between German Doctors headquarters and Ugandan partner organisations.
- Coordinate regular meetings with project teams and support visits by headquarters staff and donors.
- Represent German Doctors and build strong relationships with partners, government institutions, NGOs and donors.
2. Project Development, Compliance and Risk Management
- Support existing projects and develop strategic proposals for new initiatives.
- Coordinate donor-funded projects and identify opportunities for programme expansion.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, child protection, anti-corruption and gender equality standards.
- Build partner capacity and manage operational, financial and reputational risks.
3. Establishment of Projects in Uganda
- Conduct needs assessments and identify suitable partners for new projects.
- Identify fundraising opportunities and strengthen government and NGO networks.
- Support strategic planning and explore opportunities for sustainable programme expansion.
4. Supervision, Monitoring and Financial Management
- Oversee project implementation, financial management and donor compliance.
- Develop monitoring and evaluation systems to track project performance.
- Conduct regular field supervision visits and coordinate patient satisfaction surveys.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Establish reporting systems for partner organisations.
- Collect, analyse and verify project data.
- Consolidate partner reports and submit regular updates to German Doctors headquarters.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- University degree; Master’s degree preferred in health management, global and/or public health, health administration, project management, international development or a related field.
- At least five years experience in development cooperation in a senior leadership position, with responsibility for:
- Managing donor-funded projects/programmes
- Project coordination
- Monitoring and controlling of finances
- Monitoring & Evaluation/data management
- Intercultural cooperation
- Experience in the medical sector is an asset.
- Adherence to the highest standards of integrity and professional behaviour at all times.
- Experience in networking and cooperation with government and non-governmental stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills: a credible, culturally sensitive communicator able to work with a wide variety of people and partners from different cultural backgrounds.
- Able to travel up to 40% of the time to remote field locations.
- Proficiency in English, written and spoken, with good presentation skills.
- Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, internet)
